Our Pet Memorial Services

Goodbye Bestie can individualize your Pet Memorial Service to encompass almost any ideas you have. Here are some example packages we have offered:

Unattended Scattering or Burial

For those who cannot attend, Goodbye Bestie offers a respectful, unattended scattering or burial of ashes at the location of your choice (legal and permitted if required) without a formal service.  Photos, videos, and geolocation can be requested before the event. Perfect for those who want a beautiful resting place for their amazing pet who cannot attend or need to mail in their ashes.

For small, intimate groups with up to 10 people present during the scattering or burial. The Simple Pet Memorial Service can be done at your own home, a local park, a drive, hike, or almost any site where it is legal and permitted to scatter or bury a pet. A simple memorial service can include a short memorial reading or prayer for a simple, yet meaningful farewell.

For those wishing to add some personalization and customizable options, the basic service allows a medium gathering of up to 25 people the opportunity to attend. This basic memorial service level also includes a customizable program, enhanced memorial items, and light refreshments if your chosen location allows.

Our Enhanced Pet Memorial Service is perfect for larger celebration of life events with up to 50 people. The enhanced service adds more customization and personal options with an on-site coordinator, customized decorations, flowers, and setups, and personalized guest experiences to celebrate your pet with a larger group.

Yes, we can include small biodegradable items, like flower or notes, during the scattering. Please let us know your preferences and we will ensure they are handled with care.

Yes, combining pet ashes is a personal choice and can be a beautiful way to honor the bond between your pets. We can help you plan a combined scattering ceremony that reflects the shared love and memories.

While we offer ash scatterings or burial services at a wide range of beautiful and meaningful locations, Goodbye Bestie puts safety first for ourselves and our clients. We do not undertake dangerous climbs that would require the use of ropes or specialized equipment. Weather conditions and accessibility will always be important considerations in our planning to ensure a safe and respectful experience for everyone. If visiting the site in the future is important to you, or members of your family, we recommend choosing a location that will be easily accessible later.

Schedule a service with Goodbye Bestie by filling out our contact form here. We look forward to working with you to find a suitable date and location to honor your pet’s memory.

Absolutely. All our services are fully customizable. We work closely with you to tailor the memorial and scattering experience to reflect your pet’s unique spirit and your wishes.

The timeline can vary based on your location and preferences, but typically, the process takes about 1 to 2 weeks from the time of booking to the actual service depending on the location chosen and permits required. We strive to accommodate any specific timelines you may have.

Yes, we can provide services for multiple pets simultaneously or in a combined ceremony. This can be particularly meaningful if your pets were close companions. We’ll work with you to create a service that honors each pet’s memory.

No, we specialize exclusively in pet memorial and ash scattering services. We do not handle human ash remains. If you need services for human ashes, we can recommend providers who specialize in that area.

Yes, we accept ashes from out of state. We can guide you on how to safely and securely send the ashes to us. Once received, we will handle them with the utmost care and proceed with the service according to your wishes. Please contact us for specific instructions and any necessary paperwork.

After the service, we can provide you with a certificate that includes the date and location of the scattering. If you opted for a memorial item or tribute, these will be prepared and delivered to you shortly after the service.

Yes, if the location is accessible to the public or with the property owner’s permission, you are welcome to visit the site at any time. We can also arrange annual visits or commemorations if desired. Make sure to keep this in mind when you choose your ash scattering location, choose somewhere that will be accessible to you later if you desire that.

Generally, yes. You are allowed to bury your dog or any pet in your backyard in Colorado as long as you own the property, follow all HOA and local guidelines, have confirmed with your vet that no infectious disease was present, and use proper burial practices. If you do so, we recommend taking steps to ensure the burial is safe and respectful, be sure to choose a spot away from water sources and dig the grave deep enough to prevent disturbances from other animals.

Goodbye Bestie considers burial services for non-cremated animals on a case-by-case basis. We recommend cremation as it opens up more options for services and locations including burial or scattering in many more locations. Handling noncremated remains involves much stricter regulations, particularly for larger pets such as cats and dogs, and requires careful planning to ensure compliance with local laws. Smaller pets, such as hamsters, fish, lizards, and other small animals, are generally easier to handle for non-cremated burials. If you prefer a burial for non-cremated remains, please contact us to discuss your situation, and we will do our best to assist you while ensuring all legal requirements are met.

Yes, ash scattering is generally considered environmentally friendly. We take care to use biodegradable materials and choose locations that are safe and respectful of the natural environment.

In many cases, scattering ashes is allowed in our national, state, and city parks, but you typically need to obtain a permit first. At Goodbye Bestie, we assist with the application and permit process and help you choose a location within a park that is meaningful to you.

You might want to keep a small amount of ashes to take with you if you have to move. These ashes can be kept in a memorial item in your home or scattered at your new location. If you have already scattered your ashes or do not wish to separate the ashes we can also create a digital memorial for you.

No, pet cremation ashes are not generally good for plants. While they do contain minerals and nutrients harmful substances such as heavy metals and toxins can also be present and be detrimental to plant health. We can help you find the perfect place to scatter your pet’s ashes.

Looking for a way to honor your pet’s memory and benefit the environment consider planting a memorial tree or flower garden to honor your pet in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way.

The cost of pet burial can vary depending on your specific needs and location. Our team will be happy to help, contact us now.

A general guideline for burying a pet is to dig a hole at least 3-4 feet deep. This helps to prevent other animals from digging up the remains and ensures that the remains decompose properly.

Pet ashes require a much shallower grave only 1-2 feet deep.

Some cemeteries do offer pet burial options as part of their services. Contact us for help finding the right resting place for your pet.

A public ceremony may involve a larger group of people, such as friends and family, and may take place in a public location. A private ceremony is typically smaller, with only close family members present, and may occur in a more secluded area or on private property. Both options can be personalized to fit your needs.
